This is a challenge that Kynarou launched on the internet (Facebook page: @washin5challenge) in 2016. The objective? Raise awareness and save water “here” and redistribute the water saved “there” by concrete actions.
The concept:we invite people to save 40L of water by taking a shower of 5 minutes (instead of 9 minutes on average in France) to take pictures at the shower outlet by making a 5 by hand and to post the photo on our page.
The water thus saved is added to a meter that climbs with each new photo.
Each time the meter increases by 5,000 litres (i.e. 125 photos published), we set up an action to access the water on the ground. This action is implemented by the Kynarou Association and funded by a partner.
For example, for the first tier, an SSI (Small Scale Industry) financed a € 250 water filter that was installed in a nursery in India.
Today, we installed 18 filters and 2 collective filtration systems, we are followed by nearly 2500 people including some celebrities, we were relayed by Socialter, The Huffington Post, BFM TV, other newspapers. We are working more than ever to spread our challenge so that it continues to grow.
It will be possible for us to put in place more important field actions according to the partnerships with who we will ratify.
